Geraldine's Story Growing up I was exposed to technology through my primary and secondary school. That was when I had realized that I have a passion for creating, maintaining and deploying software. Unfortunately, I was told that the IT industry is male dominated and is strictly for highly intelligent males. That really discouraged me and I looked at other courses to enroll for university. One day, on social media I saw a post by a lady who was celebrating her new job as a software engineer at Netflix. Her story has moved and changed my life forever because I realized that my future is in my hands and I should go where my heart leads me. Therefore, I enrolled to study Bsc Computer Engineering which I became the top achiever of my faculty. I also became the face of my campus scholarship program where I tell students my story and inspire them to get similar results. Coding has truly changed my life and currently I am studying my last year and require skills which can help me land a job next year.

🙋‍♀️ Geraldine's Motivation

I am very passionate about the fourth industrial revolution and female empowerment. Where I come from most girls my age did not matriculate and became single mothers at a young age. For this reason I decided to study a B.Sc. in Computer Engineering. This faculty is a male dominated space even though the first ever programmer was a female, I have a strong passion for software development and aspire to become a software engineer. My aspirations in life is to became an IT mogul that will inspire and equip POC( People Of Colour) specially the young black females with the tools they need to make their dreams come dream true. For instance, I hope to start a software development company that will use some profits made to help women of colour start their own businesses and become fully independent. I believe that myself and SheCodes share the same values and goals which is why I am a fan of SheCodes and want to be part of the family.

🤹‍♀️ Geraldine's Hobbies

I love reading and my favourite author is Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, I enjoy reading books by black african females because they inspire me to keep working hard. My other hobbies are swimming to relax myself as well as coding. I joined a coding club in uni and I love every minute of it.
